SPRAY TANS.  If you go ahead with a trial and you plan to have a spray tan for your wedding, have one for your trial. The colour of your makeup is chosen partly due to your skin tone and depth. Also, wear a similar colour to your wedding dress -light colours vs dark colours can change the way we choose colours and the way you view colours.

Foundation, quite possibly may have the biggest job on your wedding day. Ideally we want a base that feels comfortable, lasts, impervious to tears, looks like a “second skin” and not a mask, takes great photos and looks movie star quality in videos.  Not too much to ask right? Now over many years I have had different foundations in my kit and tried a bunch myself and what I would find is that different foundations ticked some of the box’s but not all.  I’ve narrowed my search down to two professional foundations – RCMA and Face Atelier simply put, are the most amazing foundations I’ve ever used!  Crazy staying power and perfect for matt or dewy looks. The “Lit-from-within” glow is definitely achieved with these buildable, flexible, comfortable “second skin” foundations. For those who are foundation wearers you will appreciate the flawlessness and for those of you who usually wear little to no makeup, you’ll forget your even wearing it.  It feels great on – more to the point you won’t feel it!

TIP 4 : YO! Go Pro

This deserves a point all to itself. Unfortunately with hair care products there is no substitute for a professional range. I believe that with some makeup and skincare products it is absolutely possible to get great results from “drugstore” options. (For the record I should be a spokesperson for Cetaphil cleansers and moisturisers.)
Get your hairdresser to recommend at least one product that he/she thinks will make the most impact on your hair for a jumping off point…and then work up to a home hair care routine. Another very important point DO NOT USE supermarket products with large amounts of “silicone”.  It can cause problems with colouring your hair as the silicone creates a barrier around the hair shaft – but for your big day, this same barrier can make it hard to curl your hair and/or the curls are limp lifeless and drop out quickly.  Pass this tip onto your bridesmaids as well – there is no room for lifeless hair with the “lit- from-within “philosophy!!

TIP 3 : Salty kisses ✔️ Sandy toes✔️ Windy hair✖️

Presumably if you’re getting married here on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, it’s fair to say that you might have a little more “outdoor” time making the most of our stunning coastline whether it be getting married on the beach or capturing your special moments on the shore. Just keep in mind that the beach can more often than not be a little breezier than other spaces and that can mean chaos for your “do”. Consider an “elements” friendly look when you’re visualizing your final look.

TIP 2 : IF YOU’VE SAID YES? (Step 1)

Step 2 is to book into your beauty therapist for a skin analysisHave a facial, listen to your therapist as per their skincare recommendation.  At the very least start a relationship now so that when it gets closeryour therapist can suggest when and which facial to have nearer to the date.  It’s safer to have someone that knows your skin so that there are no surprises! TIP – the Lit-from-within” glow starts with healthy well prepped skin! Properly exfoliated and hydrated skin accepts and holds makeup soooo much better. Have perfect skinLucky you. Or you’re happy to take charge yourself? Absolutely! But the same theory applies – start a routine, try some new products, but do it sooner rather than later, so that you know exactly how your skin reacts. One thing remains the same – exfoliate before the big day, your foundation will look more natural and last longer.

Choosing and testing the best advice for your bridal beautification is confusing, time consuming and not to mention expensive (trial and error!)In the following weeks I will introduce you to a  compilation of my top tipscollected from years of trial and error personally and professionally. My life long obsession has led me to a lengthy career in guiding brides to their ultimate look.

1. MAKE A COMMITMENT to your hairdresser.  If you don’t have a regular hair destination, find one! Getting your hair in tip top condition is paramount. Sort out your hair colour, hair length and condition. It is not unusual to have to grow out a fringe or layers- change hair colour and/or bring your hair back to optimum condition to achieve your final look for your big day.  This can take time and it’s always best to have a regular salon take charge of your “crowning glory “!
